**This is a project-based employee role supporting the initial development phase of our autonomous vehicle platforms. Development phases of this nature typically span up to approximately 24 months though scope and duration are driven by business needs.

Summary

The primary responsibilities of a Mechanical Engineer includes: researching planning and designing mechanical and electromechanical products and systems for ASIs robotic unmanned vehicles. Designs develops and tests all aspects of mechanical components equipment and machinery. Applies knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as engines instruments controls robots machines etc. Conducts product testing and creates models and prototypes. Mechanical Engineers are also responsible for directing and coordinating activities involved in fabrication operation application installation and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Reports to a manager/supervisor. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.

Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze data including customer design proposals specifications and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Design products or systems for robotic control using electrical mechanical pneumatic and hydraulic principles and components.
  • Participate in fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
  • Coordinate operation maintenance and repair activities that optimize utilization of machines and equipment.
  • Design products and systems to interface machines hardware and software.
  • Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or systems malfunctions.
  • Contribute to design reviews.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or related field. Masters Degree preferred.

  • 5-7 years Mechanical Engineering related experience.

  • 5-7 years of machine & product design experience using Solid Works Pro-E or Catia.

  • Proficient design skills in CAD/Solidworks software.

  • Extensive experience in documenting design reviews.

  • Proficient at documenting requirements.

  • Must have experience in finite Element Analysis.

  • Experience using hand calculations of stresses.

  • Must have experience with GD&T

  • Proficient in using math software like Matlab or Mathcad.

  • Familiar with failure modes and effects analysis.

  • Understanding of manufacturing processes.

  • Familiar Patent Law.

  • Understanding of software development.

  • Familiar with Systems; Heavy Equipment; Hydraulics; Gearing and Motor
