Wintringham is a specialised non-religious not-for-profit welfare organisation. We provide affordable high-quality housing support aged care and NDIS services to people over 50 who have experienced homelessness or are at risk of homelessness. Our care model is based on empowerment partnership and respect for individuality with a strong commitment to equality and social justice.

Your new role
We are seeking experienced Social Workers to join our team at our North Western Office in Flemington or our South Eastern Office in Braeside. You will deliver specialised social work services and targeted case management interventions to older people who have experienced homelessness or are at risk of homelessness. This role operates within the Support at Home model providing CHSP and billable services including complex service navigation crisis intervention advocacy and emotional support with the aim of helping older people remain safe and independent at home.

So what is a day in the life of a Social Worker
No two days are the same in this dynamic role. You will:

  • Deliver specialised social work services including counselling advocacy and trauma-informed interventions.
  • Navigate complex systems such as aged care housing guardianship and NDIS to support participants.
  • Empower participants to maintain independence and wellbeing through tailored support plans and interventions.
  • Provide crisis intervention and assertive outreach to connect with marginalised older people.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external providers to ensure holistic care.
  • Champion participant rights and inclusion by fostering a culturally safe welcoming environment.

We are looking for candidates with the following:

  • Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent social work qualifying degree
  • Minimum 3 years experience working with older people experiencing homelessness or marginalisation
  • Highly developed communication skills and ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Experience in intake assessment and managing complex caseloads
  • Knowledge of aged care systems homelessness CHSP NDIS and legal frameworks
  • Current Drivers Licence and First Aid Level 2

Desirable:

  • Eligibility for AASW
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Social Work leadership and/or ageing
  • Experience with trauma-informed practice mental health and addictions
