The Aprendamos Juntos Coordinator is a position in Education Support Services within the Disparity Elimination line of business. This position provides the director and area leaders with planning coordination and execution of the Aprendamos Juntos vision and strategy. This includes program development identifying Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) process improvement planning facilitation data management research and other program operations to ensure success. This position also provides direct support and system navigation to both residents and external partners ensuring a robust feedback loop. This position is responsible for developing and monitoring program budget details including staffing and resources. Finally this role has supervision of all Aprendamos Juntos programs direct service employees.
Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at 7011 Northland Circle North Brooklyn Park MN 55428 other Hennepin County building sites or community-based sites and remotely as job duties require. Work hours are primarily Monday through Friday 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. with flexibility. While this position is designated as hybrid based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.
About the position type:
In this position you will:
- Convene key stakeholders and facilitate ongoing meetings and workgroup; lead and facilitate organization-wide or community committees and/or task forces with authority to act on departments behalf.
- Manage countywide and community initiatives on behalf of the department and coordinate communication and collaboration between county and community partners; plan facilitate and convene a countywide team supporting new arrival families as well as program partner meetings that include Hennepin County library staff and other partners as appropriate.
- Plan and facilitate department-wide meetings quarterly; and meet with key stakeholders like school principals executive directors of community organizations and other important community contacts.
- Ensure successful program operations by establishing goals and objectives and evaluating performance of Aprendamos Juntos as a program as well as education and literacy projects and initiatives related to service to Spanish speaking residents.
- Develop policies procedures and plans for program implementation.
- Listen to and engage directly with Hennepin County residents.
- Select develop implement and administer specialized training programs as appropriate for program and specific populations served (new arrival families families in Hennepin County family shelters Spanish speaking families English Language Learners etc.).
- Analyze and interpret current and proposed laws rules and legislation and assess impact to program policies procedures and operations.
- Support successful change management and workplace culture that is aligned to the program and department vision.
- Provide supervision or work direction to program professional staff department support staff and external partners.
- Provide project management for key program objectives including managing Information Technology (IT) requests for resident access in coordination with IT Broadband and Digital Inclusion (BDI) and Housing Stability and contracted partners contract management including supporting vendor relationships assisting with invoicing and payment processing managing and tracking required proof of services identifying opportunities for community engagement contracts and services.
- Interpret and evaluate program performance and implement continuous improvement efforts to meet the needs of residents served by the program; be responsible for oversight of all data collection including directing key program partners from Hennepin County Library and Housing Stability on data collection plan and ongoing review of data collection needs developing tracking tools utilizing ESS database and shared ESS and HC Library data repository.
- Forecast expenditures evaluate staffing needs and budget cost implications assist in setting priorities for Aprendamos Juntos program and making recommendations for future work.; monitor spending by contracted providers; and develop budget plan for program activities and external partnerships.
- Provide marketing and communication strategies and materials regarding the program; create content and work with the Communications department partners to ensure program branding aligned materials accurate material translations and adhering to communication protocols with residents and other partners; prepare regular reports on program progress that are reported up to the Hennepin County board County Administration and the Education Support Services department leadership.
Need to have:
- One of the following:
- Eight or more years of experience in general administrative work relating to the management of departmental/organizational operations or in a specialty area appropriate to the position. (General administrative work is defined as the administration and/or management of programs policies and/or budgets.)
- Bachelors degree or higher in public administration business administration or other field appropriate to the position and four years of experience in general administrative work relating to the management of departmental/organizational operations or in a specialty area appropriate to the position. (General administrative work is defined as the administration and/or management of programs policies and/or budgets.)
Nice to have:
- Ability to communicate fluently in Spanish in addition to English both verbally and in writing.
- Experience:
- Providing services in multicultural settings and providing culturally appropriate services for populations experiencing disparities (i.e. people of color immigrant and refugee disability LGBTQIA etc.).
- Administering budgets.
- In a supervisory coach mentorship or other leadership role including; taking lead responsibilities and delegating tasks.
- Knowledge ofadministrative principles and practices relating to the management of departmental operations; budget analysis and preparation; policy procedure and legislative analysis; training techniques; applicable laws and regulations; goals and objectives relating to the departments major functions.
- Ability to:
- Evaluate policy alternatives and develop plans for program implementation.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within and outside the organization; serve on committees and tasks forces.
- Read and interpret policies procedures laws and regulations.
- Supervise or provide work direction to professional or support staff; coordinate staffing and personnel functions.
- Perform general administrative work;
- Investigate and resolve complaints.
- Design and deliver training.
