Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
Location: Metro Detroit / Southfield MI (On-site)
Employment Type: Full-Time Exempt
Position Summary
The Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides psychiatric evaluation and medication management services for patients across the lifespan. Working collaboratively with psychiatrists therapists and primary care providers the PMHNP delivers patient-centered mental health care within an integrated clinical model.
This role focuses on increasing access to behavioral health services while maintaining high clinical quality and continuity of care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Conduct psychiatric assessments and mental health evaluations.
- Diagnose and treat psychiatric conditions under applicable state scope-of-practice regulations.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications.
- Develop implement and adjust individualized treatment plans.
- Provide patient education related to medications treatment goals and symptom management.
Collaboration & Care Coordination
- Collaborate with psychiatrists therapists and primary care providers.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and care planning.
- Coordinate referrals for therapy higher levels of care or specialty services as needed.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EHR.
- Adhere to clinical regulatory and organizational standards.
- Participate in quality improvement and performance initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
- Masters or Doctoral degree from an accredited PMHNP program.
- Active Michigan RN and APRN licensure.
- Board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
- DEA license (or ability to obtain).
- Strong assessment communication and clinical decision-making skills.
Preferred
- 13 years of experience in outpatient psychiatry or integrated behavioral health.
- Experience working in collaborative or team-based care environments.
