Job Summary:

The Software Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and developing a high-performing team of software engineers guiding both technical execution and professional growth. This role partners closely with product design and engineering leadership to deliver innovative scalable and high-quality software while fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team culture.

As a Software Engineering Manager youll be responsible for:

People Leadership

• Lead mentor and coach a team of software engineers by providing ongoing feedback and supporting career development.
• Oversee the hiring onboarding and training process for new engineers.
• Conduct effective 1-on-1 meetings and performance reviews.
• Ensure strong communication between engineers and stakeholders.

Project and Technical Execution

• Align team priorities with organizational goals in collaboration with engineering and product leadership.
• Work with product managers designers and QA to translate business goals into technical solutions and milestones.
• Participate in architectural reviews and guide technical decisions and best practices.
• Enable the team to deliver high-quality maintainable code via Agile methodologies.
• Conduct code reviews design discussions and incident response.
• Remove blockers and help troubleshoot complex issues.
• Develop test and maintain high-quality code.

Process and Continuous Improvement

• Establish document and optimize team processes to improve delivery and quality.
• Drive adoption of modern software engineering practices.
• Support the evaluation and integration of new technologies.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Responsible for interviewing hiring and performance management of direct reports.
• Oversee team workflow and ensure effective allocation of tasks.
• Address discipline or termination as required (with HR support and in accordance with company policy).

Heres what youll need to be successful in this role:

Required

Bachelors degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience (6 years in the industry).

• 2 years of experience leading or managing software engineers.
• Proven experience as a software engineer with expertise in web development.
• Strong technical background with proficiency in modern frameworks.
• Experience with software architecture design patterns and RESTful API design.
• In-depth experience building and deploying applications using AWS services.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to tackle technical challenges.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and presenting technical concepts.
• Experience with agile methodologies version control systems (e.g. Git) and code review processes.

Preferred

• Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with UI/UX principles.
• Prior experience delivering web applications at scale.
• Knowledge of secure coding practices and testing frameworks.

Work Environment and Company Benefits:

This is a virtual full-time position. You will work remotely from your home office and occasional travel may be required for meetings trade shows and training.

Salary:

The salary range listed reflects the total on target earnings for this position (base salary plus bonus).
