Exempt/Non-exempt:Exempt
Essential Responsibilities:
Supervise and manage cabin counselors including;
Conduct regular check-ins with cabin counselors and provide guidance and support as needed.
Complete and deliver formal evaluations of cabin counselors.
Provide Cabin Counselors period off coverage support among other times.
Hold responsibility for physical mental and emotional wellbeing of participants; this includes:
Develop healthy and appropriate relationships with participants.
Assist cabin leaders with daily check-in process for participants needing additional support.
Manage risk and maintain the safety of participants.
Provide direct supervision of participants as assigned.
Facilitate behavior intervention and conflict resolution as needed.
Plan and execute age group evening activities.
Maintain essential duties as member of the Coordinator team:
Meet with other Coordinator Team members to discuss and address camp concerns.
Participate in Leader of the Day (LoD) rotation to ensure camp schedule runs smoothly.
Contribute to regular Camper Life Meetings with the other Age Group Coordinators Campus Head Wellness Counselors and Associate Director.
Instill joy and enthusiasm into the daily life of camp.
Residential Responsibilities:This is a residential position. On-site housing is provided as part of the role and is available only while you are actively employed. Housing ends when employment concludes.
Qualifications:
At least 18 years old.
Must pass Criminal Background Check.
This position is eligible for a stipend for driving responsibilities if the following qualifications are met (ability to qualify for driving responsibilities strongly preferred):
Valid drivers license and driving record approved by Chewonkis Insurance Carrier must attend Drivers Training.
At least 21 years old (to drive participants).
Experience working in a camp educational or recreational setting.
Experience supervising or managing others preferred.
Attend required onboarding and training sessions.
Proven ability to adapt to new environments manage responsibilities and solve problems effectively while living independently.
Ability to adapt activities to meet the social emotional and physical needs of campers.
Basic First Aid/CPR Certification required (Chewonki will provide training); Wilderness First Aid strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 30 lb at a time.
Must be able to work in an active outdoor environment in a variety of weather conditions.
Able to participate in games sports and physical activities including water-based games and activities.
Able to maintain attention and a high level of energy or excitement for extended periods of time.
Willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours.
