PowerSouth Energy Cooperative headquartered in Andalusia AL is a generation and transmission (G&T) electric cooperative serving the wholesale power needs of 20 distribution members - 16 electric cooperatives and four municipal electric systems - in Alabama and northwest Florida. JOB SUMMARY & MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The purpose of this position is to install configure setup patch and upgrade hardware and software; monitoring application and system performance and troubleshooting issues; ensuring security and efficiency of Computer Information Systems (CIS) infrastructure. This position requires a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a closely related area and one (1) year of system administration experience or a combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of the position. This position requires high-level problem-solving skills analytical and critical thinking capabilities having an operational knowledge of operating systems (UNIX and/or Windows) and server virtualization. This position also requires operational knowledge of relational databases and programming languages. The incumbent must possess the ability to troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on servers and equipment. The ability to communicate with all levels of CIS personnel is required. A degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with monitoring applications and servers for performance and security issues and upgrade applications and servers as required for enhanced functionality and security requirements.
- Assists with the implementation and administration of the database environment including security patches and upgrades.
- Assists with application implementation to include application database and user security.
- Perform support functions as required by Supervisor in order to fulfill corporate and department goals as specified.
- Responsible for ensuring the success of PowerSouth by promoting team work group goals and objectives proper communication and cooperation within the department division throughout the PowerSouth organization and with member systems.
