Overview
M&J Engineering P.C. is seeking a Senior Design Engineer for building rehabilitation and new construction projects at our Farmingdale Long Island NY office.
M&J Engineering D.P.C. is a quality provider of multi-disciplined consulting services with over 300 employees. Since its inception in 2004 M&J has grown into diversified provider of engineering construction management construction inspection technology and environmental services to a broad range of clients including federal state and city/local agencies private owners architects engineers and contractors.
We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Design Engineer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be involved in all phases of building design and construction from conceptual development through construction administration and will work closely with clients consultants and internal team members to deliver high-quality architectural solutions.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate must have strong quantitative skillsets to support municipal projects in the northeast primarily in Metro NY area and Long Island. You will support drive and manage the development of projects interact and work directly with clients and develop your technical and project management capabilities. Manage tasks/projects and clients expectations for the planning design and construction of various buildings including historical aging and new construction. As well as creating construction documents specifications and handling construction oversight/administration.
- Develop preliminary engineering plans and final design drawings and construction documents
- Collaborate with project teams consultants and contractors
- Prepare presentations renderings and design proposals
- Ensure projects comply with zoning building codes and regulations
- Participate in client meetings and site visits
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently
- Support construction administration including RFIs and submittals

Qualifications
- 5-15 years experience in municipal and private design and construction. Waterfront improvement experience is a plus.
- Professional Engineer or Architecture License is a requirement
- Bachelors or masters degree in engineering or a related field.
- 5 years of professional experience in architectural practice
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Revit Bluebeam
- Strong design sensibility and technical knowledge
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
