Mō te tūnga About the role:

Julie Anne Genter MP for Rongotai is looking for an enthusiastic and professional Executive Support and Researcher to join her team based at the Parliamentary precinct for 40 hours per week.

This is a key role supporting an MP with exceptional administrative and research support. Youll be responsible for ensuring that critical administrative functions related to the smooth running of the MPs Parliamentary life (such as inbox triage diary management and travel) are actively managed. Additional support with portfolio research or social media could also useful in this role.

You will be working from the parliament precinct and also have a close working relationship with Julie Annes electorate team who work from an office based in Newtown.

Working as a core part of the MPs team youll step into an environment that is unique exciting and rewarding. This position offers real variety and plays a vital role in supporting Aotearoa New Zealands democracy.

Tō kete What you will bring to the role:

Youll be known for your strong attention to detail initiative and ability to quickly come up to speed. Your communication and relationship management skills will help you effectively share information ideas and experience with others. Youll be comfortable working both autonomously and collaboratively.

Your research expertise means you can analyse and monitor issues and compile concise briefings ensuring the MP is well briefed in their portfolio areas alternatively social media skills can be put to good use editing reels for Instagram.

Ideally youll have previous experience in executive office administration but this isnt essential: if you have excellent organisation and research skills we can provide you with the support mentorship and training you need to succeed in this role.

Ngā haepapa Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the MP knows where they need to be and when through the organisation and coordination of their diary and ensure they have the papers they require
  • Manage a very busy email inbox and draft correspondence replies on a wide variety of issues
  • Communicate regularly with the Rongotai electorate team to ensure constituent issues and events are getting a timely response
  • Support the development of policy and information gathering to provide research and advice to the MP and others in the team
  • Ensure the smooth operation of the MPs role by providing administrative support where required (diary management travel and finance support)
  • Coordinate administrative activities in the MPs office including those for meetings functions and events; including collating invitations and arranging facilities and catering

The pay band for the role starts at $74270 per annum and appointments will be based on skills and experience. All employees who work for MPs are employed on an events-based agreement with your employment linked to your MP. This role is based at the Parliamentary precinct in Wellington for 40 hours per week.
