Inmeeting this mission Attorney General Kathy Jennings is supported by teams oftalented lawyers and staff in the Criminal Civil Family Fraud and ConsumerProtection and Civil Rights and Public Trust Divisions. Each of the more than500 staff who work in the Office of the Attorney General are dedicated toserving all Delawareans with integrity and passion.

DeputyAttorneys General with critical support from criminal special investigatorsvictim service specialists paraprofessionals and administrative staffprosecute criminal cases enforce consumer laws provide counsel to stateagencies ensure the publics access to open government protect the abusedand much more.

Summary Statement

The Criminal Division Felony Trial Unit in Kent Countyseeks to fill the supervisory position of Deputy Attorney General UnitHead.

Essential Functions

This Unit Head (UH) willoversee the overall management of the Kent County Felony Trial Unit. The Unitprosecutes most felony cases arising in Kent County except for mattersassigned to the Special Victims Unit. The UH is expected to maintain strongworking relationships with local police agencies the Court and the addition to managing cases anddaily operations the UH will mentor and train Deputy Attorneys General (DAGs)and administrative staff and must be willing to observe DAGs in trial and othercourt proceedings to provide feedback and support. The role includessupervising DAGs and staff addressing personnel matters and allocating workassignments. The UH also provides case guidancedetermining which cases shouldproceed to prosecution be resolved through plea offers or go to trial.

Job Requirements

A candidate for this leadership position should have theskills necessary to effectively manage staff engage Deputy Attorneys Generalin trainings and have a high proficiency in criminal prosecution. Strengthsshould include the ability to evaluate and try criminal cases determineresolutions and anticipate legal have or be able to develop a good working relationship with otherDeputy Attorneys General support staff and Court personnel. Must have demonstrated ability to try casesin Superior Court and thorough knowledge of relevant laws and courtrules. Membership in the is Delaware Barrequired.
