About the Branch:

The Infrastructure Development Branch (IDB) provides project management services to First Nations and municipalities throughout the Yukon on public infrastructure development initiatives. The branch provides services in three main areas of program delivery: Infrastructure Development Flood and Erosion control and Infrastructure Fund Administration. IDB manages the planning and prioritization of work design and construction for numerous types of infrastructure projects for the territory.

About the Position:

The Finance Officer provides financial budgeting and administrative duties required to support the Infrastructure Development branch and other branches within the Community Development Division as required. This includes providing assistance in the preparation of financial reports providing in-depth financial analysis and advice on a variety of accounting and administrative operations procedures and systems.

Essential Qualifications

  • Coursework in Business Administration or related discipline.
  • Experience providing in-depth financial analysis and advice on a variety of accounting and administrative operations procedures and systems.
  • Experience in financial planning forecasting and reporting.
  • Experience working with Excel and financial programs.

Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be equally considered.

  • Excellent analytical skills critical thinking and sound judgment.
  • Ability to manage a broad range of financial functions such as variance reporting auditing budgeting business planning and in-depth financial analysis and interpretation of relevant legislation and policies.
  • Excellent two-way communication skills and self-awareness. Ability to influence decision making and best practices though building and maintaining collaborative relationships.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple critical and time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Planning and detail oriented with the ability to think strategically.
