ERG is seeking a Landscaper/Facility Maintenance Technician to support grounds and facilities maintenance projects and ensure a safe clean and operational environment at the Naval Support Facility (NSF) Indian Head. This role will involve performing routine groundskeeping tasks like mowing weed whacking and snow removal as well as facilities maintenance projects like painting minor renovation and light repair.
The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude experience with landscaping tools and equipment and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Additional skills in drywall HVAC plumbing electrical work or other trades are strongly preferred. This position is full-time at NSF Indian Head and the Stump Neck Annex. Indian Head Maryland is approximately 30 miles from Washington D.C.; 25 miles from Alexandria Virginia; and 60 miles from Fredericksburg Virginia. Successful candidates will be assigned a day shift of either Tuesday through Saturday or Sunday through Thursday.
Job Description:
- Perform groundskeeping dutiesincluding mowingedgetrimming weed whacking anddebris removal
- Conduct snow removal operations including shoveling salting and operating snow removal equipment
- Perform light chainsawanddebris removal work fromtheground level
- Assistwithfacilitiesmaintenance projects such as painting minor renovation andlight repair
- Respond togroundskeeping and facilitiesmaintenance requests and work orders in a timely and efficient manner
- Complywithsafety regulations and building codes
- Assistwith emergency repairs and respond to urgent situations as needed
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalentrequired
- Experience with landscaping equipment (e.g. lawnmowers trimmers snow blowers)
- Familiarity with state and local building codesOccupational Safety and Health Administrationregulations andNational Fire Protection Associationstandardsisa plus
- Experienceoperatingvehiclesand moving equipment such as cars trucks trailers and containers
- Willingness to learn forklift andmobileelevated work platformoperation (trainingwill beprovided)
- Basic trades experience or working knowledge in carpentry flooring drywallpaintingroofing concrete/masonrywork basic electricalwork or plumbing
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Mustpossessvalid U.S. work authorization and a REAL ID
- Must pass a pre-employment physical examandparticipatein a medical surveillance program for the duration of employment
- Must pass apre-employment drug test andsubsequentrandom drug testsfor the duration of employment
- Must be capable of lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to stand walk push pull squat bend and reach during shifts
- Must be able to use carts dollies hand trucks and other gear to move furniture and other items
- Must be able to go up and down stairs and ladders
- May require work in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents (e.g. fumes dust heat ionizing and non-ionizing radiation) are present
$17 - $30 an hour
