This role requires a strong understanding of machining techniques shop mathematics and the properties of sheet metal under pressure. Key Responsibilities: - Study blueprints of products and dies as well as prototypes and die models.
- Visualize the structure and function of dies and plan operations applying knowledge of shop mathematics machining and assembly methods.
- Measure mark and scribe tools and stock for machining.
- Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes milling machines and grinders to machine parts to specifications.
- Verify machined parts against specifications for accuracy.
- Lift machined parts manually or using a hoist and position them on worktables for assembly.
- Shape smooth and fit flat and contoured surfaces of die members and parts using hand tools (e.g. stones files and powered grinders).
- Verify dimensions clearances and alignment of die members and parts using tools like dial indicators gage blocks thickness gages and micrometers.
- Dowels and bolt parts together using hand tools (e.g. hammers and wrenches).
- Operate power presses perform final adjustments and refinement operations on dies in press and inspect piece part products to complete tryouts for Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIR).
- Exercise judgment to manufacture components and dies efficiently and in a timely manner.
- Perform other customer-driven or product-driven duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Education: - High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: - 1-2 years of die making or die repair experience.
