Job Title: Chemotherapy / Infusion Registered Nurse (RN)
Specialty: Oncology Chemotherapy & Immunotherapy Infusion
Site: Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System
Location: 109 Bee St Charleston SC 29401
Duration: 1 year contract with the possibility of up to 4 additional 1 year extensions
Shift Schedule: Day shifts only 07:30 16:00 or 08:00 16:30 or 08:30 17:00 Weekdays weekends and federal holidays may be required
How many shifts needed per month: Approximately 15 20 shifts per FTE
Credentialing / Onboarding time: 6 weeks to 8 weeks
License:
Active unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license from any U.S. state or territory
Certifications:
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) (includes CPR)
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy & Immunotherapy Course (required minimum)
- ONCC Certification (preferred)
Experience needed:
Minimum 2 years recent experience (worked within the last 6 months) performing chemotherapy and/or immunotherapy infusions in an infusion suite
Special Skills needed:
- Chemotherapy and immunotherapy administration
- Management of infusion reactions and oncologic emergencies
- Central line access (PICC Port-a-Cath)
- Blood product administration
- Emergency response and AED use
- EMR documentation (CPRS/VistA preferred)
Responsibilities:
- Assess administer monitor and document chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments
- Identify and manage adverse reactions and emergencies
- Provide patient education and coordinate oncology care
- Document care in VA CPRS system
- Comply with VA Joint Commission and Oncology Nursing Society standards
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary oncology teams
