Job Summary
Job Title: Substitute Teacher
Reports To: Principal
Location: Academy of Arts and Knowledge
Position Summary
AAK is seeking dedicated and flexible Substitute Teachers to join our team. Substitute Teachers play a vital role in maintaining continuity of instruction and supporting student learning when the classroom teacher is absent. The ideal candidate will foster a safe inclusive and engaging learning environment aligned with AAKs mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide classroom instruction and supervision in accordance with lesson plans provided by the regular teacher.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the needs of students.
- Maintain classroom routines expectations and a positive learning environment.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during instructional and non-instructional times.
- Manage student behavior in alignment with school policies and procedures.
- Communicate with school staff regarding student needs progress or concerns as appropriate.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by school administration
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelors degree preferred.
- Experience working with groups of children required. Experience in an educational setting preferred.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Commitment to creating a supportive and respectful learning environment.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of different grade levels and subject areas.
Work Schedule
- On-call as needed.
- Assignments may vary in length from a single day to multiple days.
Compensation
- $20.00 per hour
