Job Description

We are EFC. The single unified voice of more than 800 European football clubs mens and womens of all shapes and sizes from 55 countries and territories across Europe. Our goal is to promote and protect the interests of our members and ensure the stability and growth of European club football.

EFCs core purpose is to place clubs at The Heart of Football. Through long-term strategic partnerships with UEFA and FIFA we champion the interests of clubs on the regional and global stages. We promote sporting integrity and the development of mens and womens club competitions; deliver world-class events that bring clubs and industry leaders together; and provide benefits that support the growth of all our members on and off the pitch.

We also champion football as a force for good with our EFC Foundation driving charitable programmes to support the communities our clubs represent.

EFC is continually looking for the best talent to join our administration to ensure we enhance the value of our activities and services for Member Clubs. EFC has a rapidly growing team of over 50 people and is on a mission of organisational development targeting a digitally led performance-driven culture delivering high impact outcomes for our colleagues our members and ultimately for club football as a whole.

About the EFC Foundation

The EFC Foundation has been set up in 2024 to drive the impact of football as a force for good. The EFC Foundation is an independent entity with its own statutes and mandate. With an initial endowment of CHF 1m its immediate aim is to finalise the first Foundation Strategy together with its community of European football club foundations deliver on flagship initiatives approved by the EFC Foundation Board and embark on a growth trajectory to amplify the role football can play as a force for good in society.

Position Mission

The Project Officer will join a growing initiative with a key mission to support the structuring of outreach project development delivery and fundraising. Ensuring that the EFC Foundation operates in full complementarity with the European football club foundations ecosystem is central to its work while we consolidate SOPs and regulations to support operations.

Core Responsibilities

The Project Officer will undertake the following duties:

Project Management grant management and fundraising.

  • Provide sound project management to the Foundations flagship initiatives including The Club with leading European club foundations and in health with Gates Foundation.
  • Operational lead for these projects.
  • Support in fundraising grant making and grant management including on contractual matters and reporting.

Communications and outreach

  • Coordinate the development of impactful communications and outreach material in close collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Department.
  • Ensure powerful presence of the Foundation on social media.
  • Organise outreach and project-related events including for the Foundations flagship initiative The Club.
  • Maintain active relationships with external stakeholders and partners.
  • Support efforts in managing and growing the community of European Club Foundations.
  • Support the Head of Foundation in preparing high level meetings of the board stakeholders and partners.

Internal relationships

  • Liaise with internal functions to ensure adequate support to the EFC Foundation including with the Legal Department the Sustainability Department Corporate Affairs (finance and events) and the Membership Department.
