Job Summary

Workwear Department Lead

Position Overview:
As the Workwear Department Lead you will play a key role in leading training and overseeing your assigned departments and staff. This position requires a proactive self-motivated individual who can see tasks through to completion while maintaining a high standard of customer service merchandising and store operations. You will lead a team of 5 to 10 staff members and work closely with management to ensure a smooth and successful retail experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform opening and closing duties (turn-key operations).
  • Recruit train and mentor sales staff ensuring they are equipped with the skills needed for success.
  • Assign tasks to team members and monitor sales performance.
  • Manage inventory by tracking stock levels completing paperwork and ensuring adequate supply levels.
  • Stock shelves set up displays process transactions and maintain store cleanliness.
  • Provide staff with constructive feedback and assist with customer inquiries.
  • Motivate sales associates and foster a competitive yet collaborative team environment.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of all company products and services to effectively drive sales.
  • Implement and oversee sales floor merchandising and security measures to minimize shoplifting.
  • Deliver top-tier customer service including handling difficult situations professionally.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED required; college education preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook and MS Office.
  • Experience in retail sales department management or workwear-related industries is a plus.
  • Familiarity with trade industry apparel such as FR clothing steel vs. composite toe boots and workwear is beneficial.
  • Experience with POS systems and cash handling.
  • Strong organizational and merchandising skills.
  • Dependable trustworthy and able to work well with a team.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-Time (32-40 hours per week).
  • Weekends Required:
    • January - October: 50%
    • November - December: 75%
  • Shifts may include days evenings and weekends.
