The Boeing CompanyThe Boeing Company is currently seeking a Software Quality Engineer (Associate or Experienced) to support our AvionX team located in Long Beach California. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Engineering Test & Technology (ET&T) Software Engineering organization.
As a member of this Boeing Software Quality team you have the autonomy and responsibility to work with programs to assure the right processes are used for developing controlling and verifying software products whether developed by Boeing or provided by suppliers.
The successful candidate for this position will have a broad background in software development practices tools and processes combined with a passion for advocating First Time Quality strategies. Experience with RTCAs DO-178 DO-330 specifications and knowledge of quality standards (e.g. AS9100 / AS9115) is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will be a team player self-motivated and able to quickly learn the responsibilities of the position. Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills are crucial for success.
Position Responsibilities:
Defines and maintains program level software quality engineering processes resources and infrastructure
Actively participates in program activities from initial proposal and planning to verification/certification and delivery
Performs process and product audits to verify software lifecycle activities and products comply with approved software processes plans and standards
Supports program milestone and formal review meetings occasionally preparing and presenting information
Ensures integrity of the test process and verifies test results.
Performs final reconciliation of software data products
Identifies process or product non-compliances; supports root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions and other defect investigation/prevention activities
Teams with equipment managers of supplier products to monitor and evaluate supplier software development performance
Acts as an independent set of eyes and ears for Program Managers and the customer highlighting potential best practices on the team as well as areas for improvement
Supports the identification and analysis of program/project software quality metrics to improve software quality and manage risk
Basic Qualifications:
1 years of experience with Software Development lifecycle (including Requirements Analysis Design Code Integration & Test
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology) chemistry physics mathematics data science or computer science.
Level 2: 1 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Level 3: 3 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
2 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS) auditing
Software Quality Engineering experience supporting software with AS9115 DO-178 and/or MIL-STD-882E requirements
Software development experience in a collaborative team environment using agile principles and a structured development process including code reviews and automated DevOps processes/tools
