University of Hawaii Kapiolani Community College Library & Learning Resources Unit is seeking applications for the Reference Librarian (Casual Hire). Continuation is dependent on satisfactory performance program needs and renewal of funds.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Under the general direction of the Head Librarian this position provides general reference assistance and instruction to library users during scheduled hours.
- Provides basic technical support to students.
- Provides instruction to students and faculty in the use of online and other resources available to the Library and elsewhere.
- Prepares web instructional and informational material for students using the Internet web applications and other information technologies.
- Assists with special projects as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:- Masters degree in Library and Information Science (MLISc) or equivalent Masters degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program.
Desirable Qualifications:- One or more years of experience providing reference service to a diverse public.
- One or more years of experience working in an academic library.
- Demonstrated experience teaching or training diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to use word-processing multimedia processing web design and image editing software programs.
- Demonstrated ability to work with others in a team environment.
- Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
