Description

Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit including GO Expansion Light Rail Transit routes and major expansions to Torontos subway system to get people where they need to go better faster and easier. Workingunder thedirectionof the Manager Capital Cost Controls Operations Finance the SeniorFinancialAnalyst will consolidatefinancialbudgetsandforecastsrelated to capital costs ensure integrity of financial data and compliance with budgetary controls and analyze KPI andvariance reports assist with project budget requests identify processimprovementopportunities and developstreamliningstrategiestoimplement.

What will I be doing

Preparesbudgettablesforprojectfundingrequests
Develops a strong capex governance to establish a clear transparent and consistent process from project initiation to project close out
Participates in project kick-off meetings and provides guidance on costcapitalization to product owners and project managers
Validatesandconsolidatesbudgetandforecastsubmissions
Supports both finance and internal clients and provides financial and strategicanalyses reports commentaries and financial modelling with focus on project capital costs. Performs project cost reconciliation.
Analysesvariancesbetweenbudgets/ budgetshortagesandpromptsprojectmanagers/productownerstorequest additional funding.
Confirms budget availability for commitment requests and validates contract cost capitalization
Performsmonth-endandyear-endactivities as assigned
Reconcile transactions interfaced from subsystems to Oracle and Ecosys to ensure accuracy and completion.
Ensures integrity offinancial data and corrects posting errors in an expeditious manner
Leadsprojectclose-outprocess from initiation to completion
Leads Fixed Assets Status Reviews to ensure accurate records of assets (assets capitalization valuation and disposals)
Implement corporate financial and accounting policies procedures and controls that adhere tolegal regulatory and accounting standards
Develops training material on financial acumen and accounting policies for non-finance business partners
Evaluates theimplications of new processes systems and projects from a financial perspective to includeassessment of assumptions limitationscost benefit analysis controls and risks prior to implementation.
Creates and applies reporting templates and financial models automatesprocesses to ensureaccuracy improve efficiencies and to meetcorporate standards
Takestheleadin ad-hocprojectsand analyses
Other duties as assigned

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need

Experience in providing subject matter expertise to non-finance business leaderspartners and committee members assisting in interpretation of financial data for decision-making and providing commentary
Experienceindevelopingandpresentingtoexecutiveteam
Understands the financial and accounting impact of business processes toevaluate current andfuture business activities ( legal and reporting requirements)
Experienceinfinancialplanningandanalysisinalargerorganization
Experience with general accounting month-end and year-end proceduresaccruals and capital assets
Experiencewithinterpretingcomplexfinancialaccountingpoliciescontrolling compliance and drafting accounting white papers
Experiencewith ERPOracleandfinancialplanningandreportingsystems.
