Your Role

As our Womens Health Counsellor youll provide accessible goal-focused counselling that empowers women who have experienced trauma including domestic & family violence sexual assault grief and loss. Working in an integrated service model youll deliver wrap-around care linking clients to services and supports while offering long-term counselling that helps women achieve their goals and move forward. Youll conduct counselling assessments provide high-quality counselling and psychotherapy referrals to case management and facilitate therapeutic groups.

Duties

  • Provide counselling to women impacted by trauma DFV historical child sexual assault and mental health concerns using a trauma-informed culturally sensitive approach.
  • Collaborate with clients to set achievable goals and regularly review progress.
  • Apply a range of evidence-based modalities and therapeutic frameworks tailoring interventions and providing personalised client-focused care.
  • Engage clients through strengths-based assessments risk minimisation and safety planning to ensure wellbeing and empowerment.
  • Co-facilitate psychoeducation and wellbeing groups that promote resilience self-care and recovery.
  • Work within an integrated service model to deliver wrap-around support linking clients to additional services and resources as needed.
  • Represent the organisation at interagency meetings and community events to strengthen collaborative networks.

Skills and Experience

You will be a Counsellor Psychologist or Social Worker with:

  • Relevant tertiary qualificationsin Social Work Counselling Psychology or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years experienceproviding counselling ideally with women who have experienced trauma.
  • Proven ability to support women and families affected by trauma domestic and family violence mental health challenges or other forms of adversity.
  • Atrauma-informed DFV-informed strengths-based approachto client care.
  • Sound knowledge of child protection legislationand mandatory reporting responsibilities.
  • Strong time management and organisational skillsto balance competing priorities effectively.
  • Experience infacilitatingtherapeutic wellbeing and psychoeducation groups.
