Job Summary:
Proficient in the following areas:
- Current weather observations e.g Metars/ Speci MET reports etc).
- Forecasts e.g Terminal Aerodrome Forecast (TAF) Area
- Forecast Route Forecast Take-off and Landing trend forecast.
- Aerodrome warnings Wind shear warnings SIGMET.
- Must be very familiar with various Meteorological websites for gathering weather related information
- Advising operating pilots when they need MET inputs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitoring the ACARS communication for flight movements with respect to chocks
- Maintain continuous watch of meteorological conditions which can affect Flight Operations.
- Maintain a watch on pre-eruptive volcanic activity volcanic eruption and volcanic ash cloud along with information from the respective Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre (VAAC).
- Preparation and/or obtaining forecasts of meteorological conditions in our operating areas at prescribed intervals
- Provision of briefing consultation and flight documentation to Flight crew members Flight Dispatchers and Operations Control.
- Obtaining hourly/ half hourly current weather observations and special reports especially during Bad weather conditions.
- RVR observations.
- Meteorological information for VOLMET broadcasts
- ATIS broadcasts
- Radar and Satellite Observations.
- METARs /SPECIs of other stations as appropriate.
- Low level wind shear temperature inversions and Icing conditions
Required Skills & Experience:
- Well-versed in MET related computer systems best practices.
- Knowledge in MS Office.
- Proficient in English both spoken and written is mandatory
- Possess Analytical skills.
- Possess excellent communication and presentation skills.
Good to have:
Aviation experience will be an advantage.
Educational Qualification:
- Graduates/Postgraduate in Meteorological sciences.
- Possess a fundamental understanding of atmospheric science and weather forecasting.
- Possess sound knowledge of using Analytical tools and computerized methods for Meteorology requirements.
