Description

Reporting to the Food Division Manager responsibilities for the position include the following:

Reporting to the Food Division Manager the Food Store Manager is responsible to oversee all aspects of the day-to-day operations of their location in alignment with their divisions goals and objectives. They ensure all programs and practices are aligned to Saskatoon Co-ops standards the site is effectively and efficiently managed to drive the growth of revenue and productivity while providing a high-quality customer experience and building relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. They achieve results through their team members and are a model of Saskatoon Co-ops vision mission values and brand and are dedicated to building a culture of safety and employee engagement. Responsible to provide tactical operational support and direction to their location ensuring that marketing merchandising image service (CX) brand and maintenance standards are being achieved.

Operational Management:

Responsible for all aspects of site operation including executing the store level plan meeting operational efficiencies and targets consistently implementing procedures/best practises policies and applying the CBA ordering receiving processing claims delivery managing inventory; minimizing costs and maximizing profitability.

Talent Management & Team Leadership:

Leads their teams within the parameters of the CBA and Saskatoon Co-op polices and guidelines. Practices full cycle talent management - talent acquisition onboarding performance management including communicating clear performance expectations coaching and mentoring development planning and driving employee engagement and implementing strategies to promote a positive employee work experience. Supports and coaches department leaders to apply talent management practices with their respective team members.

Financial Management:

Leads and develops store level budget in collaboration with the Food Division Manager Senior Manager Food and Senior Pharmacy Manager. Works with Team Leader to review financial reporting and provides variance explanations within the timelines provided and implements adjustments to obtain profitability. Oversees all site level audits including regular inventory counts schedules and recording of markdowns. Tracks and monitors sales and targets.

Marketing:

In support of the divisions marketing plan provides input into the divisions marketing plan executes store level and local marketing plan as directed by Team Leader ensuring point of sale and in-store signage and promotions are aligned with programs and organizational/divisional marketing campaigns and effectively displayed. Inform all team members of the campaign and required behaviors to align with the desired outcomes. Communicates brand differentiators and ensures they are understood applied and observed through in-store interactions.

Analytics:

Track and compile relevant site level data to measure targets and analyze results such as sales and employee sales hours CASM execution shrink inventory margin productivity specific product performance. Utilize BI Tools and other tracking methods. Work with Team Leader to gather insights and implement corrective actions.

Safety (and Environmental) Stewardship:

Ensures compliance with Saskatoon Co-ops Safety Policies and government regulations (OHS committee meetings fire drills operators certification). Reports incidents workplace accidents and near misses as required. Aids in investigations in asset protection or other related matters. Implements corrective action to prevent future safety events. Ensures a safe environment for team members and customers providing training to handle equipment and machinery maintaining current certifications performing regular inspections)

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or Equivalent with a preference for post-secondary education (business diploma or degree)
  • 10 years proven and progressive management and leadership experience and leadership in a large format retail food location.
