Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Bus Driver to support our Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) programs based in St Clair.

As a Bus Driver you will play a vital role in safely transporting children attending our Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) programs. This includes school pick-ups drop-offs and excursions. Working closely with educators you will help ensure all children are accounted for vehicles are safe and well-maintained and every journey is a positive experience.

This role offers short consistent daily shifts making it ideal for someone seeking reliable casual work.

Key responsibilities:

  • Safely transport children between schools OSHC centres and excursions
  • Assist educators with supervision and sign-in/out procedures
  • Maintain a clean roadworthy vehicle and report maintenance issues
  • Adhere to road safety regulations and council policies
  • Communicate effectively with staff families and schools
  • Complete daily vehicle safety checks and transport logs
  • Respond calmly to emergencies or unexpected situations

Work hours:

  • Split shifts may be required (e.g. morning and afternoon school runs)
  • Occasional extended hours for excursions or special events

What are we looking for(Essential criteria)

  • Valid NSW Light Rigid Drivers Licence (LR)
  • Valid NSW Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong understanding of road safety
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
  • Reliability and punctuality

Desirable criteria

  • Experience working with children or in OSHC/childcare settings
  • Understanding of child protection responsibilities

Commencing salary: $30.90 per hour plus 25% casual loading plus 12% Superannuation

This position has been identified as a Child-Related position under Child Protection laws in NSW. To be eligible to apply you are required to provide Council with a valid Working with Children Check Number.

You will be required to undertake employment checks which may include a Criminal History Check Qualification Check Working with Children Check Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test as relevant to the position for which you have applied. Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council for review in order to progress through the recruitment process.
