The Opportunity

The Clinical Science group within Clinical Affairs have an exciting intern opportunity for a Student Scientist to join their team. A large and growing area of focus in the group is the timely delivery of key technical reports under the Medical Device Regulation and In Vitro Diagnostics Regulation for Abbott Diabetes Care products to enable CE marking and the selling of medical devices in the EU. Day-to-day this varied role will see you collate appraise and document various types of clinical evidence on Abbotts and competitor products and prepare reports for Performance/Clinical Evaluation and Post-Market Clinical Follow-Up. The team interacts with colleagues in key business functions including product regulatory quality assurance and statistics.

What are we looking for

You will be studying a Science based degree (with successful completion of 1st 2 years) and be seeking a year in industry placement as part of your course. Were looking for someone who is passionate around STEM and keen to pursue their career in the Medical Devices sector. You will be able to demonstrate strong skills in communication time management innovation and team work. You should be excited about working in a fast-paced environment within a hard-working and welcoming team. You will be keen to develop your skills inscientific writing data appraisal and production of reports.Career growth and future opportunities are pillars of our program. Our Diabetes Care Business:

With a track record of innovation and development Abbotts Diabetes Care business designs develops and manufactures leading-edge glucose monitoring systems for use in both home and professional healthcare settings. We have a Global Centre of Excellence for Medical Devices based in Witney Oxfordshire. The site has been instrumental in the research development and manufacture of the FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System as well as exciting developments in the Libre family including FreeStyle Libre 2 FreeStyle Libre 3 and the Libre Sense system.
