Construction Interface Manager:

  • Ensure design and construction alignment:
    • Monitor the integration between design deliverables and construction sequencing to prevent scope gaps physical clashes and constructability issues.
    • Review of engineering deliverables and adequation of equipment/material delivered versus construction requirement of customer specification
    • Liaise with design office for timely issuance of data required for preparation of site works (specs designs BOQ material lists )
    • Coordination between GE Partners/suppliers supply HVDC Control System and Construction & Commissioning needs
    • Detailed review of material supplied by GE Partners/suppliers in order for the project to provide right installation and commissioning tools
    • Provide regular reporting to Project Team on key construction interface issues and resolutions
    • Coordinate Construction design & activities with the consortium partner (shipyard)

  • Quality Assurance/ Factory Acceptance Tests :
    • Ensure that the detailed FAT test plan related to the Construction & Commissioning scope of the equipment is prepared and in place
    • Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) for the Construction & Commissioning scope of the related equipment
    • Analyse deviations on a risk- based approach with impact to the construction site works and follow- up on corrective actions

  • Construction Management
    • Leading the Construction Scope for a dedicated project in the Execution phase including participation in customer/ partner meetings
    • Prepare the Planning for the Construction Scope publish progress reports and provide key inputs into Project monthly reports
    • Set goals and objectives for the site managers mobilized on his projects
    • Implementing Monitoring recording and reporting of the Health Safety and Environmental performance of the project site as per GE EHS standards in collaboration with Site Construction Staff
    • Ensure Construction Operating Rhythm is deployed on all sites
    • Monitoring recording and reporting of the contractor work progress along with Site construction teams
  • Resolve conflicts:
    • Act as the central point of contact and facilitate clear communication between the Construction Site and various parties for interface issues
    • Proactively identify track and resolve construction interface risks and conflicts that could impact project timelines safety or performance.

Candidate requirements

Skills / Qualifications

An appropriate qualification in Electrical Engineering with 5-10 years of work experience would be advantageous but equivalent experience in construction execution and site management is also feasible.

Have appropriate health and safety experience training and qualifications in line with international standards for roles of this nature to be able to identify and stop unsafe works.

Previous experience of undertaking the role of Project Manager/ Construction Manager on a large Substation Project.

Have previous experience in the installation of key elements of the project including but not limited to the following:

  • High voltage switchgear (up to 400kV)
  • Power transformers
  • Power and control cabling
  • HVDC equipment

  • Be knowledgeable on international standards and best practice in relation to construction
  • Be knowledgeable on environmental legislation and good industry practice in relation to construction works
  • Be knowledgeable on the key applicable standards and specifications associated with electrical works construction applicable for countries in the region
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to be proactive and recommend and approve corrective actions if required
  • Will be required to travel frequently across the region and to Asia/ Dubai to project sites
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to accurately and concisely report both verbally and in writing. Proficiency in English mandatory German is a plus.
