Monitors and directs patient flow to and from inpatient ambulatory ancillary departments as determined by identified support areas of service. Prioritizes and routes patient transportation request in a timely manner based on assessment of current staff availability and hospital status (i.e. Code Purple PACU 888 etc.). Assesses data reflective of the patients status and appropriately interprets information relative to the patients age specific needs to determine appropriate transport. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span. Understands and utilizes policies on Standard Precautions MRI safety Back Safety Isolation Techniques medical emergency response and appropriate Hand-off procedures (SBAR) to assess and route patient transportation requests. Assist modalities in additional duties to encourage efficiency. These duties include and are not limited to: Regularly checks equipment accessories and supplies; report malfunctioning equipment so repairs can be made. The incumbent works flexible hours which may include days evenings nights holidays and weekends.
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required. Computer skills required including Microsoft Office. Prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong commitment to customer services required. Must be able to work independently and in a team- environment making decisions and directing work and patient flow to achieve maximum operational efficiency. Must be able to adapt to unpredictable and stressful situations while maintaining a calm and pleasant demeanor. One-year hospital experience preferred. Basic Life Support Certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) Competency.
Previous transport experience preferred and BLS required upon hire.
