You are an experienced Construction Manager who is ready to roll up your sleeves and get your hands on projects. You perform best in groups and are looking to lead a team.
AECOM is currently seeking a Construction Manager to perform Construction Contract Administration and Construction Management services for the Water Business Line for large multi-disciplinary construction projects located in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. The position starts based out of our Burnaby office and will evolve to full time at a construction site during normal construction hours however some night and weekend work may be required.
The selected candidate will interact daily with the Client Project Management Team (PMT) and the Engineer of Record (EOR).
The responsibilities of the Construction Manager include:
- Construction Project Management (e.g. directing field engineering team interface to the in-office engineers-of-record and discipline leads project progress reports project team coordination for all construction submittals direct client and PMT coordination timely delivery of responses to all construction submittals RFIs RFCs COs etc. monitoring and reporting of QA/QC compliance and overall quality system recommendations for contracting strategies)
- QA/QC reviews and compliance
- Work with PMT and Construction Contractor in expediting solutions to technical field problems
- Review coordinate and adjudicate all construction submittals
- Coordinate directly with EOR discipline leads on all design changes and construction submittals
- Participate in the negotiation of change orders specific to design changes
- Notification to the PMT of any observed work that does not conform to the requirements of the contract documents; and
- Participate in and document all construction meetings onsite (e.g. daily tailgate/safety meetings weekly construction meetings etc.)
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements :
- Bachelors degree in civil engineering or another related field
- Professional Engineer ( PE or CEng) or CA/CM
- 10 years professional experience in the design and construction engineering fields
- Leadership role(s) on project(s) with capital value greater than $50 million CDN
- Valid BC Drivers license and access to a vehicle
Preferred Qualifications :
- 15 years experience in the design and/or construction engineering fields specifically related to engineering design services during construction
- Senior leadership on multiple projects with capital value greater than $50 million CDN
- Experience with projects under litigation
- Experience with Owner Supplied materials and construction cost estimating experience
- Have supervised at least five (5) completed construction projects in the field having minimum capital value of $50 million CDN construction value for each project where at least one of the projects was related to water and wastewater conveyance infrastructure or water and wastewater treatment plants
- Held a lead role (e.g. Lead Technical Engineer/Project Manager/Engineer-of-Record/Construction Manager) on at least two (2) of the five (5) projects
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead teams respond to changing demands be decisive under pressure and can remain calm when interfacing with internal and external personnel
- Experience in construction contract administration and/or management
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes and regulations
