Job Summary

AECOMs Buildings Places business line is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern to be based in Boston MA.

This position is a great opportunity to get exposure to a wide variety of vertical structural engineering projects of all material types and sizes. You will be working with a Boston-based team alongside a greater US EAST region. Our group services projects and clients across North America and around the globe.

This position is expected to begin in May 2026.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Builds analytical and design structural models under supervision of an experienced structural engineer.
  • Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Creates designs calculations sketches diagrams schematic drawings and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Participates in site investigation construction progress and other site visits alongside an experienced engineer.
  • Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelors Degree program in Structural or Civil Engineering with the intent to continue enrollment after the internship and must have completed at least 2 years of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a bachelors degree and plan to continue with the masters degree are eligible to apply for these positions.  Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelors degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Due to the nature of the work U.S Citizenship is required for this role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with REVIT BIM software
  • Proficient in the use of computers for making engineering calculations spreadsheets and report writing
  • Strong written communication presentation and client interface skills

Additional Information :

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
