Responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients medical and/or surgical including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation.

Department: Department of Surgery Division of Cardiac Surgery
Schedule: Full Time

Pay Range: $120390/yr.-$170456/yr.
JOB RESPONSIBILTIES/DUTIES:
Provides direct care counseling and teaching to cardiac surgery patient in the ambulatory inpatient operative and/or procedural setting.
Performs complete histories and physical examinations
Orders interprets and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostics laboratory and physical examination findings
Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures
Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes procedure notes operative notes and discharge summaries.
Performs bedside procedures as appropriate to the patient population.
Complies with all policies and standards
Additional clinical administrative and/or leadership roles above a PA I as defined by the department/division including but not limited to onboarding mentoring and training new physician assistant hires
Participates in quality improvement projects as delegated by the PA leadership team
Participates in meetings/committees at the division and hospital level as delegated by the PA leadership team
Participates in professional development activities appropriate for their level of training
Precepts PA students and provides appropriate education for PA and medical students on service
Performs endoscopic vein harvesting and assisting in surgical operations when applicable
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Masters degree in Physician Assistant (PA-C) studies from physician assistant education program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
- 2 years of experience as a physician assistant in cardiac surgery critical care or working with a critically ill patient population.
- Must have Massachusetts State License Massachusetts Controlled Substances License DEA License and ACLS/BLS Certification
