The Water Supply Planning Section (work unit) continually implements and refines the various components of the Colorado Water Plan including the Analysis and Technical Update Basin Implementation Plans and the Colorado Water Plan. This involves conducting and coordinating studies and analyses to help ensure that Colorado has an adequate water supply for its citizens and the environment. This includes researching and tracking current uses of water future projected uses of water planned water projects and projected gaps in potential supply and demand. This unit is also responsible for managing and supporting an ongoing statewide stakeholder engagement process through the nine Basin Roundtables and the Interbasin Compact Committee (IBCC). As part of this process the work unit manages funding from various sources used to support water planning and stakeholder engagement efforts. The work unit also exists to foster water conservation and drought planning by local communities to help assist Colorado decision makers and the public. This includes distributing water conservation and drought planning grants providing technical assistance in water conservation and drought mitigation planning and implementation reviewing and approving water conservation plans conducting public outreach and education regarding water conservation and drought planning and coordinating with federal state and local addition this unit helps to identify assess needs and track the progress of water entities that are targeting conservation as a means to achieve long-term water goals by maintaining a database for water use and water efficiency.

The purpose of the position is to provide professional technical assistance and facilitate communication with stakeholders on complex water resource management issues to the Colorado Water Conservation Board under the Boards statutory authorities in a broad range of water resource planning programs.
The position under the supervision of the Section Chief is responsible for liaising with key legislatively defined stakeholders on complex water management activities related to the development protection and conservation of Colorados water resources. The position responsibilities include data management documentation noticing public meetings managing accounts for virtual meetings field work and travel to roundtable meetings across Colorado technical support for those meetings sharing agency information and gathering input as well as mediating conflicts and challenges that arise.
The position also provides support to the Water Supply Planning Section & CWCB by assisting with financial administrative event planning and imaging functions including Colorado Water Plan projects and activities. The position is responsible for data entry and processing agency financial payments using the CORE financial system to enter and route invoices interagency transfers and requests for encumbrances. The position follows day-forward imaging guidelines to image (scan) documents and is the laserfiche resource advisor. The position will support Water Supply Planning event coordination for the basin roundtables and other section events to assist with venue arrangements necessary travel coordination and other event planning needs .
The position accomplishes the above tasks in consultation/coordination with other entities inside and outside of state government and with federal state and local water interests. This position also includes providing public information on these matters as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:
Six (6) years of professional work experience in water resources water supply planning stakeholder engagement hydrology engineering program management environmental science or a related field.
- OR -
A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to six (6) years. Acceptable degree types include natural resources management environmental science environmental studies environmental policy engineering hydrology geography natural resources economics natural resources law or a field of study related to the work assignment.
