Job Summary

The Assistant Dean will support the administration of Teen Challenge Leadership Institute (TCLI) and Transitional Housing programs. This role involves collaborating with staff and external partners overseeing student activities and ensuring the smooth operation of TCLI mens program. The Assistant Dean will play a key role in facilitating the ongoing development of students supporting their academic emotional and spiritual growth.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The essential functions include the following:

  • Assist in the daily administration of TCLI and Transitional Housing programs including managing communication between staff students and external partners (e.g. probation officers legal professionals).
  • Oversee and maintain student records grades attendance and other confidential documents. Ensure compliance with documentation policies and maintain accurate up-to-date records.
  • Coordinate housing assignments room inspections and maintenance requests to maintain a safe comfortable and clean living environment for students. Perform regular inspections and manage room changes as needed.
  • Meet bi-weekly with new students (first and second modules) to assist with their transition and provide personal guidance prayer and support. Meet regularly with struggling students to address challenges celebrate achievements and help them stay on track.
  • Facilitate one-on-one meetings with students provide prayer support and offer academic and emotional guidance. Teach classes related to the Assistant Deans expertise and lead chapel services once a month.
  • Support and guide Resident Advisors and Leaders in their roles facilitate leadership meetings and address any leadership concerns. Ensure student leaders are empowered and supported in fulfilling their responsibilities.
  • Approve and manage weekend passes and address special student requests as needed ensuring that all activities are in line with program expectations and policies.
  • Maintain regular communication with external partners (e.g. probation officers case workers lawyers and family members) to address any legal financial or personal matters affecting students. Ensure that students meet their legal and procedural obligations.
  • Collaborate with departments such as maintenance IT food service and vehicle management to ensure that student needs are being met efficiently. This includes coordinating vehicle usage for student drivers and addressing any facility-related concerns.
  • Assist the Dean with calendar management meeting scheduling and coordination. Track and follow up on financial matters including tuition room/board payments GRH management and overdue accounts.
  • Manage issues related to Hope Commons including storage bicycles and any other facility-related concerns ensuring that the space is maintained and students have the necessary resources.
  • Provide ongoing support to the Dean in various areas such as drafting letters assisting with legal or medical matters and ensuring that students needs are met with compassion and professionalism.

Required Skills & Experience (Minimum Qualifications):

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelors degree in Social Work Psychology Human Services Education Counseling Nonprofit Management Business Administration Public Health or related preferred.
  • 2 years of previous administrative experience preferably in a treatment recovery or social services setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage tasks independently and maintain accurate records.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage with diverse personalities and maintain professionalism.
  • Skilled in maintaining confidentiality regarding sensitive client and student information.
  • Adaptable and composed under pressure with the ability to adjust quickly to changing circumstances.
  • Clear and concise communication with various audiences.
  • Professional representation of TCLI with integrity.
  • Effective time management and prioritization to meet deadlines.
  • Comfort and compassion in working with individuals facing life-controlling challenges such as

mental health issues and addiction.

  • Commitment to MnTCs culture of honor and core values including compassion respect

integrity servanthood and trust.

  • At least 1 year of freedom from problematic substances.
  • Must pass a DHS background study as required under MN Statutes Chapter 245C and 245G.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at a time.

Target Compensation (Negotiable based on qualifications):

$20.00 to $21.00 per hour
