Job Summary/Overview
The Facilities Maintenance Team Lead is responsible for managing the daily operations of the facilities maintenance team. This includes overseeing the maintenance and repair of building systems grounds HVAC plumbing electrical and safety systems. The role ensures that all facilities are safe functional and compliant with regulatory standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and implement preventive maintenance schedules for building systems and equipment.
- Schedule and assign preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements.
- Ensure timely response to equipment breakdowns and facility issues.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities inspections and repairs.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to minimize downtime.
- Manage inventory of tools parts and supplies.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations.
- Train and mentor maintenance staff.
- Participate in budgeting and cost control efforts related to maintenance.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of maintenance technicians and custodial staff.
- Respond to and resolve facility-related issues and emergencies.
- Oversee repairs and upgrades to HVAC plumbing electrical and structural systems.
- Ensure compliance with local state and federal regulations including OSHA and environmental standards.
- Manage vendor relationships and oversee contracted services (e.g. landscaping janitorial pest control).
- Maintain records of maintenance activities inspections and work orders.
- Monitor and manage maintenance budgets and inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Conduct regular facility inspections to identify and address issues proactively.
- Train staff on safety procedures and proper equipment use.
Knowledge Skills Competencies and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of mechanical electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
- Strong knowledge of building systems including HVAC plumbing electrical and fire safety.
- Excellent leadership communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to read blueprints schematics and technical manuals.
- Familiarity with building codes and safety regulations.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrate experience with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Work is performed in a commercial or industrial facility setting.
- May require lifting climbing and working in confined or elevated spaces.
- On-call availability for emergencies or off-hours maintenance needs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certification preferred.
- 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance/similar experience with supervisory role is preferred.
