POSITION SUMMARY:
The Small Format Print Product & Process Specialist provides expert technical and operational support across Small Format VSO and other VSOs within Vistaprint. This role focuses on print pre-print (platemaking) and post-print (secondary finishing) processes ensuring reliable high-quality production and continuous improvement.
As a Subject Matter Specialist you will support manufacturing operations and technical services stakeholders during production escalations contribute to root cause analysis and collaborate with M-Tech Manufacturing Engineering Quality and Procurement on new product introductions materials qualification and equipment optimization. The role requires strong hands-on knowledge of offset and digital production workflows gang layout optimization and post-press processes such as cutting technologies coating applications embellishments and other post-print processes
What You Will Do:
Review and interpret daily shift notes identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
Attend Small format VSO escalation meetings and follow up on assigned escalations.
Develop clear accurate problem statements to support root cause analysis activities.
Troubleshoot and resolve print and finishing issues including jams print defects coating issues registration problems and equipment malfunctions.
Generate and update SOPs Clean & Check sheets and production standards.
Create and communicate Production Alerts Process Deviations Temporary Deviations and Safety Notices.
Plan and support consumable testing (inks coatings blankets plates).
Partner with Global Procurement and QE on paper testingscreening short-term and long-term trials for both press and post-press.
Support Local Procurement in qualifying consumables across printing and finishing processes.
Support M-Tech and Manufacturing Engineering on new product launches including print layout design and gang-sheet optimization for small-format workflows.
Ensure product designs align with equipment capabilities die cut requirements and folding configurations.
Liaison with die cutting tooling suppliers (e.g. SRD Marbach Central Die).
Coordinate operator and technician training with equipment vendors.
Support internal G7 activities and color consistency initiatives across equipment and teams.
What You Need:
Post-secondary education in a related field preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience with small format printing and finishing technologies (Digital and Offset formats preferred).
Experience with post-press processes such as cutting technologies coating applications embellishments and other post-print processes
Demonstrated ability to design custom layouts that integrate die cutting and folding requirements.
Strong mechanical aptitude for maintaining adjusting and troubleshooting printing and finishing equipment.
Proficiency in mechanical/mechatronic setup on presses die cutters folders and digital print systems.
Strong knowledge of offset presses digital printing systems and finishing equipment.
Ability to operate and troubleshoot computerized controls HMIs and equipment software.
High level of safety awareness and adherence to machine operation standards.
Proficiency with Google Workspace and MS Office products.
