This is a grant-funded position.

Position Overview:
Under moderate supervision the Wastewater Surveillance Program Coordinator supports the development and implementation of Harris Countys wastewater surveillance efforts. The individual in this position will be responsible for advancing community outreach facilitating interlocal agreements and coordinating field operations. This role also manages communication with municipal partners tracks program metrics and assists in developing reports and presentations that inform decision-making.

The Wastewater Surveillance Program Coordinator requires strong planning time management communication and reporting skills to effectively coordinate program operations.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Metrics and Reporting: Maintain outreach and operational metrics prepare visual summaries create board presentation materials and draft quarterly progress updates.
  • Program/Project Support: Contributes to planning discussions and special projects regarding outreach initiatives reviews field documentation maintains readiness records for internal planning evaluates and improves projects and performs additional tasks to support the wastewater surveillance program.
  • Outreach and Community Engagement: Develop and manage campaigns prepare educational materials coordinate community events and strengthen relationships with municipal utility districts civic clubs and community partners.
  • Contracts and Agreements Coordination: Drafts reviews and tracks interlocal agreements with the County Attorneys Office and municipal representatives providing updates resolving legal or procedural delays and ensuring timely execution of contracts.
  • Site Visits: Schedules and attends site feasibility visits and sampler installations.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in public health Health Administration Communications or related field.
Experience:
  • At least one (1) year of professional experience in public health community engagement program planning or related work.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of community engagement practices contract management processes and public health program implementation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word PowerPoint Excel Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational time management problem-solving reporting and collaborative skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with community partners government agencies and technical staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to create professional reports presentations and visual data summaries.

Preferences

Experience:

  • Prior experience in government or nonprofit settings.

General Information

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time grant-funded position.
  • Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with occasional evenings or weekends for community events.
  • Telework may be available after an initial probationary period.
Work Environment:
  • This position operates in a professional office setting with occasional off-site field visits and community engagement events within Harris County.
Physical Demands:
  • Primarily sedentary with some standing bending and lifting of materials up to 25 pounds during community outreach events or field coordination.
