The School of Interdisciplinary Forensics (SIF) at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for full-time benefits-eligible non-tenure-eligible faculty positions at the rank of Instructor or Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in forensic psychology or in closely related areas at the intersection of psychology and law. Salary is based on qualifications and rank at hire. The ideal start date would be in January for the Spring 2026 semester although an August 2026 start date may be negotiated.
Instructors are expected to teach 15 credits of courses during each of ASUs fall and spring semesters (i.e. a 5/5 teaching load) but have no service or research responsibilities. Assistant/Associate Teaching Professors are expected to teach 12 credits of courses during each of ASUs fall and spring semesters (i.e. a 4/4 teaching load) but are expected to participate in school college university community and/or professional service.
While the majority of the teaching responsibilities will serve our online programs the position may also include on-campus teaching for our campus-based undergraduate programs in forensic psychology. The position further includes course redevelopment and maintenance assisting with program development working with graduate student teaching assistants departmental and professional service and working with ancillary support services connected to ASU Online.
The successful candidate will be a member of ASUs Law and Behavioral Science initiative one of the largest centers of Forensic and Legal Psychology scholars in the world with over 30 core and affiliated faculty members and nearly 2000 students enrolled in five degree programs at the undergraduate masters and doctoral levels. SIF offers a unique approach to forensic education offering students transdisciplinary ways to learn about how technology and science interact with law legal systems and legal issues. SIF has strengths in the psychological sciences (social clinical developmental psychology and psychology and law); the natural sciences (anthropology biology chemistry entomology and genetics); and information technology (cybersecurity digital forensics). With a focus on real-world applications and ethical considerations SIF prepares students for careers in which they shape a justice system informed by scientific evidence and in which investigative and legal processes reflect empirically supported best practices and all people receive fair treatment.
Our psychology and law program include courses in forensic psychology and those in broader areas of psychology and law (including those rooted in social developmental and other non-clinical branches of psychology). These include survey and advanced courses in psychology and law the psychology of criminal investigations police psychology correctional psychology and psychological criminology (e.g. The Criminal Mind) as well as courses in research methods and capstone experiences. Accordingly we encourage people with expertise in clinical forensic and other branches of psychology to apply.
