A school leader who is committed to and passionate about all aspects of education that takes place outside the classroom. They must have the skills and drive to build an inclusive enrichment programme that will prepare learners for the future.

The candidate must have demonstrated significant commitment to afterschool activities enrichment opportunities and education outside the classroom. A strong background in leading school sports programmes is also required.

The successful candidate will have strong people skills the ability to think strategically a focus on detail and excellent communication skills.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Head of Enrichment and Sports will strategically lead develop innovative world-class approaches to enrichment programmes that complement and expand upon all aspects of our delivered curriculum. This will require the capacity to think strategically creatively and as an entrepreneur to develop self sustaining programmes and partnerships to enrich the experience of our learners and our community and provide programmes and structures that are designed to develop resilient learners.

The Assistant Head of Enrichment and Sports is a key member of the Whole School Leadership Team reporting directly to the Principal and working closely with the Heads of School as well as other senior and middle leaders.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Developing Monitoring and Evaluation of our Enrichment programme

The role requires the post holder to:

  • Lead the enrichment teams including but not limited to the Head of Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) and Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) and the Aquatics leader and those leading trips and camps and other activities outside the classroom
  • To coordinate with all stakeholder to ensure co-curricular coverage and community programmes aligned with our vision and mission
  • To identify build connections and work effectively with outside providers of programmes
  • To identify and implement opportunities for learners that increase participation and enhance the quality of offer
  • Document a coherent equitable and broad-based all through enrichment that allows learners to be successful to follow their passions and to take their productive place in society
  • To be responsible for ensuring all aspects of enrichment consistently align with the age appropriate needs and the schools Vision and Mission
  • To strategically lead learning outside the classroom to implement and develop systems to monitor and evaluate the quality of our enrichment programmes and their delivery
  • Share best practices with colleagues leading by example and promoting high standards in the delivery of the enrichment programme
  • Ensure that the schools policies are adhered to in respect of the enrichment programme
  • Manage and develop the Enrichment budget to maximise opportunities for all learners
  • Develop coaching models structures and systems to support learners and teams perform at the highest level and ensure our sports teams are highly competitive

Through:

  • Managing a complex budget to meet the needs of the programme
  • Promoting the enrichment programme at Nexus with our families learners and staff
  • Developing and nurture positive relationships with parents external providers and other key stakeholders
  • Ensuring that relevant areas of the website are regularly updated
  • Representing the school positively and raise our profile to the wider world of education
  • Keeping the schools leadership team up-to-date with changes in enrichment offerings
  • Being closely involved in the appointment and induction of new staff

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

MINIMUM ACADEMIC/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION:

  • Appropriate teaching degree

RELATED EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 8 years teaching experience
