Position Description

This position plays a vital role in expanding the Computer Science Departments community engagement fostering connections with young people and promoting computer science education and opportunities both within and outside the university.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate with external entities and institutions to build strategic partnerships. This can include communication through a social media presence and promoting programs events and involvement of students.
  • Establish relationships with industry partners (for faculty and students) local schools and community organizations.
  • Represent the department at external meetings and collaborative events where industry representatives are located.
  • Explore opportunities for collaboration between industry and academic work.
  • Coordinate visiting speaker sessions and industry guest lectures.
  • Prepare reports and metrics.
  • Build internal student engagement through active internal and external promotions and outreach activities.
  • Support funding proposal development and budget planning for outreach activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree - preferred in Computer Science
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Strong social media skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to represent the Computer Science Department in a professional and enthusiastic manner

In the Department of Computer Science at StFX students undertake studies that offer a well-rounded education in the science of computing.
