Our client is a prominent leader within the South African retail financial services and fintech landscape. As a key division of a massive diversified retail group they provide essential credit lending and payment solutions to millions of customers. This is an environment characterized by high-volume data sophisticated risk modeling and a commitment to financial inclusion. You will be joining a high-performance Credit Risk team that sits at the intersection of business strategy and technical execution.
This is not a maintenance role. You are the engine room of the Credit Risk department. Your mission is to bridge the gap between complex risk strategies and system reality. You will be responsible for ensuring that the systems governing credit decisions and collection workflows are optimized compliant and performing at peak efficiency. Your impact will be felt directly in the companys bottom line by enhancing collection yields and ensuring seamless system performance during critical batch cycles.
Performance Objectives for Year One:
- Objective 1: Strategy Implementation & Optimization: Within the first 3 months take full ownership of configuring system parameters scoring logic and dialer strategies. You will successfully translate complex business requirements into technical workflows (SMS letters and dialer rules) that directly improve recovery rates.
- Objective 2: System Integrity & Performance Assurance: Establish a proactive monitoring cadence within the first quarter to ensure all batch jobs integrations and scoring processes run without failure. You will be expected to reduce system-related downtime or errors by identifying and resolving root causes before they impact operations.
- Objective 3: QA & Deployment Excellence: Lead the end-to-end testing and UAT process for at least two major system enhancements or new functionality rollouts ensuring zero high-priority defects reach the production environment.
- Objective 4: Compliance & Governance Audit-Readiness: Ensure 100% alignment of all system configurations with regulatory frameworks (NCA and POPIA). You will maintain a meticulous digital audit trail and documentation library that allows for immediate reporting and risk assessment.
- Objective 5: Operational Enablement: Act as the primary technical subject matter expert for the Collections and Recovery teams resolving first-line support queries within agreed SLAs and improving the internal user experience of the risk platforms.
Profile for Success:
You are a hybrid professional who understands the language of Credit Risk (delinquency buckets scoring NCA) and the logic of System Configuration. You likely have 3 years of experience as a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst specifically within a lending or collections environment. You have a demonstrated track record of taking a business idea (like a new scoring rule) and building the technical workflow to make it a reality.
