Job Summary
The Core Network Specialist will be responsible for the supply installation configuration and ongoing support of Core Network Equipment specifically CAP Routers within the environment. The role requires deep technical expertise in Wide Area Networking (WAN) solutions and handson experience in missioncritical network deployments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install configure and commission Core Network Equipment including CAP Routers in accordance with SAPS technical standards.
- Provide endtoend support for Core Network infrastructure including proactive maintenance upgrades and incident resolution.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting of WAN environments to ensure optimal network performance and minimal downtime.
- Implement secure scalable and resilient WAN solutions across distributed SAPS sites.
- Produce technical documentation configuration records and commissioning reports.
- Collaborate with the technical teams and OEM vendors to ensure compliance with operational and security requirements.
- Conduct rootcause analysis and implement corrective actions for network faults.
- Provide expertlevel guidance on network architecture best practices and optimization strategies.
- A minimum of ten (10) years handson experience in:
- Implementation of WAN solutions
- Configuration and support of enterprisegrade network equipment
- Troubleshooting complex network environments
- Commissioning and testing of Core Network infrastructure
- Demonstrated experience working in secure or missioncritical environments (public sector law enforcement defence or similar) is advantageous.
- OEM ExpertLevel Certification such as:
- Huawei Certified Internetwork Expert (HCIE) or
- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology Networking Telecommunications or equivalent (preferred).
- Strong expertise in routing switching and WAN technologies.
- Deep understanding of network security principles and best practices.
- Proficiency with enterprisegrade routers firewalls and network management tools.
- Ability to design deploy and maintain highavailability network architectures.
- Familiarity with QoS MPLS VPNs and network monitoring systems.
