Job Summary

Job Summary

1.Oversees EMCS projectsand warrantiesincluding coordinating with engineers and contractors and performing job inspections.

2.Identifiesopportunities for energy savings and develops EMCS projects to achieve energy conservation goals.

3.Modifies EMCS programs graphics and databases to ensureoptimaloperation of EMCS and HVAC systems.

4.Responds to reports from principals and coordinates corrective action withappropriate parties.

5.Providestechnical guidanceassistance and training to District staffregardinginstallation maintenance and operation of EMCS.

6.Conducts periodic inspections of existing building systems including HVAC and EMCS in order to determine priority for repair and/or upgrade of various system components.

7.Works with engineers and contractors as well as principals and staff to fully utilize Districts EMCS investments.

8.Provides input for district design guidelines.

9.Reviews drawings and specifications from design professionals relating to new constructionremodelingand renovation of existing buildings and EMCS systems.

10.Develops construction estimates for budget purposes.

11.Develops andmaintainsa filing system for the latest programming revisions at each school including planscontractorsname system modifications warrantydurationand follow-up inspections.

12.Performsotherduties asassigned.

Qualifications

Education:Bachelors degree preferred in Building ConstructionManagementor related field from an accredited college or university.Experience can be substituted for post-secondary education with a required high school diploma.

Experience:Four (4)yearsofexperiencemanagingplanningand/or coordinatingand implementingEMCSin large complex facilities.

Licensing/Certification/Registration:A valid Florida drivers license isrequiredprior to appointment and must bemaintainedduring employment.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of techniques methods practices and procedures used in conducting energy conservation studies and analyses designing projects preparing specifications and coordinating energy management control systems with special emphasis on EMCS; heatingventilationand air conditioning (HVAC) systems; and electrical systems
  • Knowledge ofstate of the artEMCS technologiesand control sequencesBACNetprotocol and functionality of Districts EMCS systems
  • Knowledge of building construction electrical and mechanical principles and heating air conditioning refrigeration and associated systems
  • Knowledge of all phases of construction including specifications plans schedulingequipmentand warranties
  • Knowledge of computerized building management systems
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Basicoral written and interpersonal communications skills
  • Basicword processingandspreadsheet software skills
  • Ability to manage and coordinate projects of differing degrees of complexity and size with engineers contractors manufacturers representatives building principals and administrators and governmental agencies asrequired
  • Ability to inspect construction and renovation sites as well as existing school facilities
  • Ability to estimate costs and analyze materialslaborand time for proposed EMCS projects
  • Ability to project savings from energy conservation measures
  • Ability to conduct research gather and analyze data and prepare reports
  • Ability to read understand and apply Florida Department of Education Florida Building Codeand other governmental regulations that apply to building construction and energy
  • Ability to read understand and apply job-related manuals information data and other materials
  • Ability to work independently and be results oriented
  • Ability toestablishworking relationships with principals District administrators EMCS technicians and vendors engineers and other employees
