This position is responsible for maintaining an orderly clean aseptic environment for the operating room and assists staff by performing a variety of tasks and functions that support the care of surgical patients. Supports both internal and external customers including patients families nurses physicians and other colleagues who support the delivery of care and services throughout Perioperative Services.

I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Assists in the preparation of Operating Rooms and other Perioperative areas.
2. Ensures OR room turnover occurs directly following the procedure according to the perioperative policy/procedure guidelines.
3. Stages case carts by the designated OR suite. Verifies all case carts have been accounted for and complete with the OR nurse.
4. Assists with restocking maintaining and replacement of OR supplies and surgical instruments on a daily basis to ensure availability during surgical procedures.
5. Cleans areas and equipment. Maintains cleanliness and physical appearance of the unit.

II. Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. Minimum of a high school education or GED.
2. Current Basic Life Support or Heart Saver certification within 1 month of employment as a condition of employment.

Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Must be able to read write and communicate in English in a clear and concise manner.
2. Must utilize proper safety techniques and body mechanics in all work-related activities.
3. Must have strong interpersonal skills to gather information from individuals build relationships that support collaborative work within the department and across the organization and provide exceptional service to patients.
4. Must have proven interpersonal skills to provides respectful culturally and age-appropriate communication with patients staff family visitors and others.
5. Ability to problem-solve routine situations and requests assistance from identified resources when more direction is needed.
6. Must be able to remain calm when under stress or in emergency situations

Preferred:
1. Minimum of six (6) months of health care experience.
2. Prior experience working in an Operating Room assisting and/or supporting the surgical team in surgical procedures.
3. Medical terminology and computer skills strongly preferred.
