Health & Safety Officer Construction & Manufacturing

Employment Type: Full-time Permanent

Overview

We are hiring a Health & Safety Officer on behalf of a growing construction and manufacturing organisation in the South-East. This role will initially be construction-focused during a major site development phase and will transition into a long-term operational QHSE role once the facility becomes fully operational.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Phase

Participate in site meetings safety briefings and EHS reviews
Provide clear Health & Safety guidance to contractors and site personnel
Conduct site inspections audits and risk assessments
Ensure accurate incident reporting and follow-up actions
Maintain all statutory and internal safety documentation
Monitor site safety performance and report to senior management and QHSE leadership

Operational Phase

Drive a proactive and positive Health Safety Environment and Quality culture across the organisation
Lead internal and external audits ensuring compliance and continuous improvement
Manage risk assessments site inspections and corrective action plans
Coordinate training needs inductions and contractor management processes
Oversee machinery inspections engineering checks and safety systems
Prepare Health & Safety reports for senior leadership
Maintain and manage QHSE systems in line with ISO standards (ISO 9001 ISO 45001 ISO 14001)
Deliver toolbox talks and company-wide safety awareness initiatives

Candidate Profile

Experience within construction and/or manufacturing environments
Recognised qualification in Occupational Health & Safety
Strong working knowledge of Irish QHSE legislation and industry standards
Experience with ISO management systems and audit processes
Strong leadership communication and stakeholder-engagement skills
Ability to operate effectively at both site and senior management level
