Health & Safety Officer Construction & Manufacturing
Sector: Construction & Manufacturing
Location: South-East Ireland
Employment Type: Full-time Permanent
Overview
We are hiring a Health & Safety Officer on behalf of a growing construction and manufacturing organisation in the South-East. This role will initially be construction-focused during a major site development phase and will transition into a long-term operational QHSE role once the facility becomes fully operational.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Phase
- Participate in site meetings safety briefings and EHS reviews
- Provide clear Health & Safety guidance to contractors and site personnel
- Conduct site inspections audits and risk assessments
- Ensure accurate incident reporting and follow-up actions
- Maintain all statutory and internal safety documentation
- Monitor site safety performance and report to senior management and QHSE leadership
Operational Phase
- Drive a proactive and positive Health Safety Environment and Quality culture across the organisation
- Lead internal and external audits ensuring compliance and continuous improvement
- Manage risk assessments site inspections and corrective action plans
- Coordinate training needs inductions and contractor management processes
- Oversee machinery inspections engineering checks and safety systems
- Prepare Health & Safety reports for senior leadership
- Maintain and manage QHSE systems in line with ISO standards (ISO 9001 ISO 45001 ISO 14001)
- Deliver toolbox talks and company-wide safety awareness initiatives
Candidate Profile
- Experience within construction and/or manufacturing environments
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Health & Safety
- Strong working knowledge of Irish QHSE legislation and industry standards
- Experience with ISO management systems and audit processes
- Strong leadership communication and stakeholder-engagement skills
- Ability to operate effectively at both site and senior management level
