Job Description:

The Department of Pediatrics Neurology Division is currently accepting applications for an Education/Training Specialist III.

This is a full-time 12-month Educational Consultant position at the FDLRS UF Multidisciplinary Diagnostic and Training Program (MDTP).

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Serving as a liaison between MDTP parents and schools/districts
Providing consultation services to parents teachers instructional personnel and other school staff to facilitate implementation of evidence-based interventions to improve the academic engagement learning skill development and readiness for post-secondary transition of at-risk K-12th grade students with complex needs who are struggling academically
Providing direct coaching and mentoring to teachers to facilitate implementation of effective interventions and monitoring of response to interventions (RtI) within an MTSS framework
Providing collaborative consultation to educators in school-based educational planning meeting
Delivering direct educational consultation services to students
Conducting student behavioral observations in classroom settings and providing targeted consultative support to classroom teachers
Conducting comprehensive progress monitoring assessments with students families and teachers/school personnel to determine the effectiveness and implementation levels of recommendations
Writing consultation reports and maintaining all appropriate records as required and in a timely manner
Developing and delivering in-service and pre-service training on evidence-based behavior management approaches reading and math instruction drop-out prevention and other topics to educators related professionals and parents

This position will be supervised by the Assistant Director. This is a time-limited position that is dependent on grant-funding.

Providing consultation services to parents teachers administrators and other school staff to facilitate the educational engagement learning skill development and readiness for post-secondary transition of K-12th grade students with complex needs who are struggling academically.

Using data to assess response to interventions (RtI) within an MTSS framework; analyzing interpreting and reporting student data and using student data to assess response to interventions (RtI); formulating written consultation and evaluation reports including summaries of students educational histories prior evaluation findings response to intervention data and pertinent evidence-based recommendations for intervention strategies; planning and preparing intervention strategies for parents and teachers that are effective; coordinating planning and participating in case conferences with parents and educators to share information and develop an action plan to address the needs of children with special educational needs; conducting comprehensive progress monitoring assessments with students families and teachers/school personnel to determine the effectiveness and implementation levels of
recommendations; conducting student observations in classroom settings. Coordinating developing and/or conducting in-service and pre-service training for educators related professionals and parents as well as educational and training programs for educators and school personnel; developing coordinating participating in staff development programs.

Serving as liaison between MDTP schools and other agencies; working effectively with students parents colleagues community agencies and staff; collecting and analyzing data and maintaining program activity databases; compiling and drafting reports related to program activities; interpreting administrative regulations and policies and recommending new and improved programs within MDTP; analyzing synthesizing maintaining and disseminating pertinent current information from the Florida Department of Education on pertinent state and federal policies and laws and related educational policies programs and procedures; preparing reports and maintaining all appropriate records as required and in a timely manner.

Expected Salary:

$69700 - $78225 annually; commensurate within this range based on qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelors degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Doctorate in Special Education or related field from an accredited institution.
2. Valid educator certifications from the State of Florida Department of Education
3. At least three (3) years experience in a Florida school district
4. Valid drivers license and be able to drive within the north-central Florida service region
5. Strong knowledge and experience with a broad range of standardized psychological language and academic assessment measures and evidence-based interventions for K-12 students with learning neurocognitive and related difficulties impacting school functioning and academic progress.
6. Strong working knowledge of Floridas Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and proficiency in analyzing accurately interpreting and reporting student data.
7. Ability to effectively deliver evidence-based educational consultation and instructional support to teachers parents principals and district staff for struggling Kg-12th grade students with dyslexia and other special education needs
8. Proficiency in communicating results of evaluation findings in written and oral formats to assist students parents and school personnel to identify effective approaches to address communication (articulation & oral language) learning and behavior problems that are impacting academic progress.
9. Ability to work with diverse groups collaborate effectively with others flexibly problem-solve and facilitate effective conflict resolution.
10. Strong working knowledge of current exceptional student education (ESE) policies and procedures and pertinent state and federal laws and school district and community resources available to families of children with disabilities.
11. Ability to design and deliver evidence-based professional development/training to educators school support staff parents related service providers and agency personnel
12. Experience and proficiency with industry-standard computer applications
13. Ability to use technology effectively.
14. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
15. Excellent time management and organizational skills.
16. Commitment to professional growth and continuous improvement of professional knowledge and skills.
17. Flexible workday and hours are required to accommodate client needs
18. Bilingual with Spanish language proficiency
19. Proficiency with use of web-based computer technologies
Special Instructions to Applicants:

Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. although the hours may be flexible depending upon the requirements of the position. This job requires travel within the North Central Florida region as needed.
