DescriptionThe Access Coordinator is the first point of contact for students requesting academic accommodations at UTC. This role evaluates documentation under AHEAD and ADA-AA (Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008) guidelines recommends reasonable accommodations and collaborates with faculty and campus partners to ensure equal access. The position also manages confidential student data provides training and connects students to mental health and academic resources.
ResponsibilitiesPrimary Responsibilities
- Lead the student accommodation request process by evaluating documentation from licensed or credentialed professionals conducting interactive interviews collaborating with faculty and determining appropriate reasonable accommodations
- Maintains timely and accurate accounts of all student interactions
- Engage in build and sustain collaborative relationships with campus partners to enhance student experiences
- Continuously evaluate and integrate best practices to strengthen the interactive process and accommodation determinations
- Actively support team-led outreach and educational initiatives across campus
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Working knowledge of requirements under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- Ability to engage students in the interactive process to assess needs and identify appropriate accommodations
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to facilitate constructive dialogue between faculty and students
- Knowledge of the AHEAD Documentation Guidelines
- Good organizational skills
- Effective problem-solving skills
- Ability to interact professionally with campus partners

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
- Typically requires a bachelors degree in a relevant field and two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
- An understanding of the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended and the AHEADdocumentation guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with college-aged people with disabilities in a higher education setting
