Position Overview
The Department of Drama and Dance at the University of St. Thomas in Houston invites applications for adjunct instructors to teach performance courses in Spring 2026. We are seeking experienced theatre artists and educators who are committed to high quality undergraduate instruction and who value the integration of rigorous training professional practice and the liberal arts tradition. Courses may include Acting I through IV Voice Movement Acting for the Camera Audition Techniques Styles of Acting or other performance-based offerings depending on departmental need and applicant expertise.
Responsibilities
- Teach assigned performance courses during the Spring 2026 semester in alignment with departmental outcomes and curricular goals.
- Provide structured skill development clear instruction and consistent feedback to support student growth.
- Maintain regular communication with students including office hours or equivalent
- Assess student work in a timely manner and submit grades according to university
- Collaborate with full time faculty and contribute to a supportive professional learning
- Uphold departmental standards for conduct safety and professional practice.
Qualifications
Required:
- Masters degree in Theatre Acting Directing or a closely related field or substantial professional experience in performance.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching or coaching actors.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to student success.
Preferred:
- MFA in Acting Directing or Performance.
- University level teaching experience.
- Experience working with diverse student populations.
- Active engagement in the theatre community.
About the Department
The Drama Program at the University of St. Thomas is a vibrant and growing part of the Fine Arts. The department offers the BA in Drama the BA in Theatre Education the BFA in Musical Theatre and minors in Drama and Dance. Through Stoic Theatre the resident professional company at UST students train and perform with working theatre artists and gain professional experience before graduation.
