ABOUT AUSTIN WATER:
Purpose:
Under general supervision this position performs and manages tasks to assist engineering or management on project or workforce planning and scheduling.
Duties Functions and Responsibilities:
Essential duties and functions pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
Coordinates and schedules field construction and maintenance projects. Coordinates and reviews construction- or engineering-related contracts and contract documents.
Measures work performances against engineering work standards to develop maintain and improve City of Austin design and construction standards.
Tracks status of projects and reports to management.
Plans projects by determining crew size and composition work hour requirements and equipment requirements.
Prepares work order schedules control records and post schedules.
Communicates project and/or program information to internal and external customers.
Ensures compliance with City and other regulatory agency requirements and policies.
Meets with project managers engineers and contractors to discuss designs.

Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent plus 3 years of experience in coordination and scheduling of utility infrastructure projects.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with operations and maintenance of wastewater collection system pipelines manholes and other assets; managing and/or inspecting construction and/or service contracts related to wastewater collection system assets; coordinating with multiple work groups both internal and external; and providing training and guidance to Austin Water personnel
Experience interacting with internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to project managers engineers construction inspectors contractors subcontractors vendors operation and maintenance staff and wastewater collection system customers
Knowledge of the City of Austin permitting processes Austin Water and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) water and wastewater design criteria engineering standards and specifications and water and/or wastewater product review
Knowledge of Right of Way (ROW) permits and traffic control plans
Experience reviewing construction plans performing constructability reviews and providing guidance and recommendation on construction methods
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook Excel Word); Adobe Acrobat Bluebeam and/or Geographic Information Systems (GIS); and Infor Public Sector (IPS) or similar database for managing wastewater collection systems assets service requests and work orders
Ability to travel to more than one work location
Ability to work outside of normal business hours to support emergency operations
Position Overview:
Austin Water is seeking a Scheduler Analyst for the Pipeline Capital Improvement Program Delivery Division. This position will perform a combination of office and field tasks and will be primarily responsible for coordinating activities related to (1) performing field inspection and condition assessments of wastewater collection system assets (2) managing service contracts that rehabilitate or replace wastewater collection system assets (3) providing technical guidance on wastewater collection system assets to internal and external stakeholders (4) coordinating the permitting and implementation of traffic control plans with contractors Right of Way staff and Austin Water staff and (5) providing emergency response on Austin Water utilities. This position will also support a wide range of other projects as well as operation and maintenance activities related to Austin Waters wastewater collection system. On occasion this position will also support projects associated with Austin Waters potable and reclaimed water distribution addition this position will review engineering construction plans and specifications and perform constructability reviews. The successful candidate will serve in both lead and support roles on various Austin Water projects which will include coordinating challenging issues associated with a fast-growing city.
