Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent; Associates degree preferred.
- One (1) year of experience preferred in nutrition education environmental education community garden production greenhouse experience or documentation of an agricultural certification.
- Valid Florida drivers license.
- ServSafe Certification or the ability to obtain within the first year of employment.
- Lean Six Sigma Certification preferred.

Responsibilities
- Assist the school gardens instructor with development and implementation of activities to produce food and maintain gardens. This includes germination planting harvesting IPM monitoring nutrients recordkeeping and equipment maintenance.
- Ensure food safety procedures and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) are followed when students and staff are harvesting produce.
- Prepare for student lab activities to ensure efficiency and productivity.
- Coordinate with the Environmental Education department in obtaining resources and materials to support gardens and outdoor education.
- Participate in training with Environmental Education and garden instructors as needed.
- Assist with the documentation of garden produce and communicate progress reports. Produce communications for Food and Nutrition Services and Healthily Living Collaboration presentations and social media.
- Work collaboratively with instructors cafeteria staff and school partners as a comprehensive support team for student environmental and food quality education.
- Maintain a positive attitude toward all students and staff.
- Partner with food service employees regarding the proper preparation and presentation techniques required for all foods utilized.
- Transport materials and plants when necessary for sharing between locations.
- Assist in the distribution of garden education materials for schools.
- Maintain assigned inventory.
- Work with Environmental Education Curriculum Professional Development and Food and Nutrition Services staff to help refine curriculum used by instructional staff.
- Serve as a community resource in the area of nutrition education to parents students and civic organizations.
- Travel to and from schools throughout Lee County.
- Communicate with Food and Nutrition Services as needed regarding school presentations and training.
