Fulltime Permanent Position
$78103.40 per annum
Plus 12% superannuation
Additional 3% Council superannuation contribution

The City of Port Lincoln is seeking a full-time WHS and Risk Officer to provide support and advice to assist Council to implement measures to eliminate risks to health and safety through a systematic approach to WHS and Risk Management framework.
Key Objectives Include:
- Work under the general direction of the Work Health and Safety Manager to develop and implement Councils WHS management systems.
- Facilitate develop review and implement WHS policies procedures and supporting documents to ensure compliance with legislation and industry standards.
- Facilitate develop and review WHS risk assessments Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and associated safe work/operating procedures.
- Utilising specialist knowledge deliver actions outlined in the WHS & Risk Management Plan working closely with the Manager Governance Risk and Communications and the Work Health and Safety Manager and relevant stakeholders to ensure timely completion and compliance.
- Further develop and maintain the Skytrust system ensuring that all data is accurately recorded monitored and maintained including providing organisational support in utilising the system.
- Provide specialist WHS advice and support to leaders and the Work Health and Safety Manager in the investigation of workplace incidents and near-misses ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented.
- Provide support to facilitate operational risk assessments maintain the corporate risk register and facilitate risk reporting.
- Assist with the implementation of Councils Risk Management Framework and associated activities.
- Provide specialist advice and assistance in the investigation of workplace incidents accidents and near-misses ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented.
- Manage the delivery of WHS training programs to staff and maintain training records in Skytrust and Councils records management system.
- Conduct regular WHS audits safety inspections and site visits to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations addressing any identified gaps.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents hazards and WHS-related activities in Skytrust.
- Prepare quarterly WHS reports as required and collate and analyse data for the reports and identify trends and issues for escalation to the Work Health and Safety Manager.
- Facilitate and assist with the Work Health and Safety Committee (WHSC) and Emergency Planning Committee (EPC) to fulfil their roles and requirements including agendas reports and minutes.
- Administer Return to Work (RTW) claims and provide internal rehabilitation support to the Work Health and Safety Manager.
- Back-fill the Work Health and Safety Manager in periods of absence.
- Assist with the development implementation and review of emergency management plans including evacuation exercises.
- Liaise with staff contractors and stakeholders and provide specialist support and advice to promote a positive safety culture and ensure everyone understands their WHS responsibilities.
- Ensure compliance with WHS legislation codes of practice and regulations advising management on any changes in safety laws or standards.
- Assist in the development and management of return-to-work programs for injured employees working closely with HR and external providers.
- Reporting of incidents near miss injuries property damage and identified hazards.
- Acknowledge and comply with the WHS Roles and Responsibilities assigned to the position as outlined in the Councils WHS Procedures and the WHS Roles & Responsibilities Register
- Take reasonable care to protect their own safety and the health and safety of others.
- Follow reasonable instruction on health and safety and injury management.
- Actively participate in training and WHS programs as required.
- Any other responsibilities in line with the position as assigned by the Manager and/or City of Port Lincoln.
