About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Return Home Interview (RHI) Worker to join our multi-agency team supporting children and young people across Havering. The post holder will play a vital role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable children by undertaking Return Home Interviews mentoring and providing targeted support.

You will work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure that missing children and young people receive timely interventions their voices are heard and advocated for and they are supported to reduce risks associated with exploitation and missing episodes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake Return Home Interviews within statutory timeframes for missing children and young people.
  • Manage daily allocations of RHI referrals ensuring service targets are met.
  • Share relevant information with partner agencies regarding children at risk of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE).
  • Support children and young people to express their views and influence decisions affecting their lives.
  • Provide advice and support to parents and carers to promote family wellbeing.
  • Maintain accurate case records in line with practice standards.
  • Coordinate and deliver training for partner agencies on Missing CSE and CCE.
  • Work collaboratively within local safeguarding procedures to protect children and young people.
  • Participate in a rota that includes evenings and weekends as required.

Person Specification

Qualifications:

  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g. Youth and Community Work NVQ) or significant experience working with vulnerable young people.

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Experience supporting vulnerable children and young people with complex needs.
  • Understanding of issues related to CSE CCE and missing children.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and multi-agency working.
  • Passion for working with adolescents

Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with professionals and agencies.
  • Highly organised with excellent record-keeping skills.
  • Resilient and able to work under pressure in challenging situations.
  • Commitment to equality diversity and anti-discriminatory practice.

Additional Information

  • The role requires flexibility including working evenings and weekends on a rota basis.
  • Travel across the borough and occasionally nationally may be required.
